Leaves of the Sea

from Leaves of the Sea by The Halcyon Brothers

/

about

You see, there was a tree and there was a man. And... well, it's an allegory. You'll like it.

lyrics

There was a tree
and there was a man,
and the man in the tree
had a hell of a plan.
He rose to the top
and shook all the leaves,
and all the leaves fell
to the opening sea.
And the opening sea,
had a hell of a curse.
This curse was in fact,
The ultimate worst.
The ultimate worst,
that there ever could be,
‘til the man in the tree
shook all of the leaves.
The leaves hit the sea
With a blip and a blap.
Soft little sounds,
like a cat in a nap.
The leaves rode the seas,
and the sea held the leaves.
There was never a thought,
to not just agree.
The sea was the leaves,
And the leaves were the sea.
Both of them one,
supplying their needs.

And on and on,
the story will go,
‘til the tree and the man,
and the leaves of the tree,
and the leaves on the sea,
begin to forget,
and then disagree.

The Halcyon Brothers Minneapolis, Minnesota

Halcyon is a poetic name for a Kingfisher. It is said that the floating nest of the Halcyon brings calm to the cruel sea. The Halcyon Brothers decorate the weight of the world in a charming and medicated disguise. The sound embraces with a clinched smile, and then stumbles and occasionally falls only to somehow prop itself back up for another round. ... more
