Last night at the forum Private Shrub became a corporal The River Sank The River Boiled The Think Tank began to spoil They talked of issues They talked of borders They placed an order for more soldiers Now it’s no big deal Doing these cartwheels Cuz Sagan taught the science With a blind eye to the violence Amidst delusion The illusion caused confusion Like cheap champagne on an aeroplane With peak conditions For sweet intentions A rose was posed To defeat neglection With peak conditions For sweet intentions A rose was posed To defeat neglection Taking up some orders Just to get you cross the border Underneath the blankets Underneath the stars In a blue maze With a blue Haze There’ll be blue days I’ve waited for you With peak conditions For sweet intentions A rose was posed To defeat neglection They talked of issues They talked of borders They placed an order for more soldiers

Weather Spy 02:42
Perished in the daystar and plastered with paste Here in this village where the days are a waste Cipher toils and cipher grays Every last vision is a caste away Every last faith has faded and died Alongside the griffons are seeking a guide There’s talk of an idol arriving by plane With purified lights leading the way Bring on the sun Bring on the birds Under the radar where mum is the word Superimposed and reaching for air There, where all are unaware Merely a mellow, waning high Floats by the town as a weather spy If, if there’s a way If there’s a day If there’s a dunce And the dunce has a say But don’t, don’t be unnerved You can’t rule the birds You can’t rule the stars ‘Cuz the stars rule your world Bring on the sun Bring on the birds Under the radar where mum is the word Superimposed and reaching for air There , where all are unaware Merely a mellow, waning high Floats by the town as a weather spy There’s talk of an idol arriving by plane To move with the glow of the Milky Way

Jokey was no traitor And he liked to go to war Pulled his socks up Pushed the buttons Then walked out the door Threw his arms up in a panic Tossed and tossed and turned A majorette in a minor’s hat The man this world has earned Broke my finger pointing out his wrongs I became a singer hoping you would sing along Though I wear my tongue tied tightly ‘Cuz I find my words are frightening Though I where my tongue tied tightly ‘Cuz I find my words are mighty He’s got a rifle He’s got a handle His butterfly nets, his shaving kits Are tucked away in plastic If the train waits The German states “Your umbrella’s out of nitrous” Then I’m outta here I’m outta here Broke my finger pointing out his wrongs I became a singer hoping you would sing along Though I wear my tongue tied tightly ‘Cuz I find my words are mighty

You see they’re strong / you see they’re wrong You’ll take the flood’s command in blood They’re so strong And so wrong But, we’ll hunt the beast Draw an eye / draw a star Draw with pencil on the heart They’re so strong And so wrong But, we’ll hunt that beast Draw an eye / draw a star Draw with pencil on the heart They’re so strong And so wrong But, we’ll hunt that beast Now here’s a notion Make it a motion Doc’s got a plan It’s a plan we have to have If we all stand behind it Make it our pilot The plan will understand What’s at hand What’s at hand Draw an eye / draw a star Draw with pencil on the heart They’re so strong And so wrong But, we’ll hunt that beast Draw an eye / draw a star Draw with pencil on the heart They’re so strong And so wrong But, we’ll hunt that beast Draw an eye / draw a star Draw with pencil on the heart And, we’ll hunt that beast You see they’re strong / you see they’re wrong You’ll shock the seas with electricity They’re so strong And so wrong But, we’ll hunt the beast

Now who’s to say That by five you’ll be richer You ditch digger? And in the morning When you’re waiting for the sunrise You better get wise ‘Cuz nowadays There’s no use in just complaining My ears are straining You go to work You use your hands You navigate the croplands You ask for time You realize That the bank has changed its mind Changed its mind Changed its mighty, mighty mind I’m the army I’m the contract On the wrong side of the lord I’m the hopeless southern bastard Whose eyes are on the floor If you see me If you stutter Please don’t help me find my cup You must believe me when I tell you You don’t want my kind of luck The bank has changed its mind Changed its mind Changed its mighty, mighty mind ‘Cuz you don’t know me I don’t know you You don’t drive a diesel truck Faithless sinners Hopeless winners All the same Don’t give a fuck So, in the evening When you’re waiting for your dinner You pray for sinners But, the bank has changed its mind Changed its mind Changed its mighty, mighty mind

I’ll toast you now with Oreos / I hope you knew what I know About those loose ends and my regrets /and decomposing arguments If Jesus Christ could aid the plight / I’d pledge his words with all my might I think he knows and can’t forget / those decomposing arguments But all I know is what I see / It seems to me this is disbelief I’ll pay your heist if the price is right / I’ll hum a tune and dance all night But that’s not nice / it is so corrupt / If you asked me to, I’d just shut up I’ll toast you now with Oreos / I hope you I what you know About those loose ends and my regrets And decomposing arguments / decomposing arguments / and decomposing arguments What do I have to do to keep you smiling? What do I have to fix to keep it rolling? What do I have to hear to keep believing? What do I have to say to keep on trying? So, I’ll toast you now with Oreos / I hope you knew what I know About those loose ends /and my regrets And decomposing arguments / decomposing arguments / decomposing arguments Does blasphemy have to be endangered by truth? Deals that make no sense at all Birds that just won’t get along Tangerine torture passed for a reason to hope Renewing your spirit by reviewing the dope Does blasphemy have to be endangered by truth? Scenes of real life mysteries Brash scenes of crash teens just to tease Indigo sunshine from a suspended vine Or possibly sent from a bat in the sky Does blasphemy have to be endangered by truth? I’ll toast you now with Oreos / I hope you knew what I know About those loose ends and my regrets And decomposing arguments / decomposing arguments / and decomposing arguments ‘Cuz I was a body Born of free mind Balls to the wind Languished on the head of a pin Spinning round a firefly Spinning round a firefly Oh, that’s bad Oh, my mind

Swine 01:02
You’re a swine You’re a swine And I’m saying that’s an insult to the pig And I’m saying that’s an insult to the pig With the foul furrow that you dig With the foul furrow that you dig Why don’t you lay you head down? Why don’t you lay you head down? In that unconsecrated ground In that unconsecrated ground Was she you mother? Was she you mother? Or was she your bride Or was she your bride The file The file To blister To blister To gnaw at her side To gnaw at her side Is this the end of the world? Is this the end of the world? Is this the end of the world? Is this the end of the world? Now that you’ve finished your life Now that you’ve finished your life This riddle is the work of my little penknife This riddle is the work of my little penknife

The Halcyon Brothers had their beginning in 1999. Björ6n Oranj and Chris "Chopper" Campbell had formed the band Squid1969. During the recording of three albums for 1969 Imprints, Bosky Rumbluffer was brought in to the project as a producer/engineer while also providing additional musicianship. Up to that point, Bosky had recorded a number of solo albums while also being a member of several Twin Cities acts including Cheez Wizard, Waiting for One, Pop Creeps and Antheap.

With the Squid project laid to rest, Bosky and Björ6n went on to form the Halcyon Brothers in the Spring of 2001. As a two piece band, there was little opportunity to play live, but they hunkered down in the Green Door and Mercury's Twilight studios to record and release their debut album in early 2002. A Dusty Bible Leads to a Dirty Life was originally released on Rotisserie Records and has subsequently been re-released by Higgins, Turner, Higgins LLC. With little air play stateside, the album received modest success in the Czech Republic, Italy and Australia.

Waiting little time, the two were back in The Green Door studio recording Butterflies with Bayonets. In the fall of 2003, this album was also released on Rotisserie Records. Like the first album, very little air play was given to the band in the United States. However, they experienced surprising success back in the Czech Republic, Australia, Portugal and Italy.

The recording of the third album took more of an effort than the first two. With 23 tracks, Whisper the Moon and the Stars Will Revolt was recorded at four studios over the course of four years. Near the end of that period, the duo was joined by guitarist Dorje Lamb who contributed slide guitar to the track "Get Loved." In November of 2008, this album was released via Higgins, Turner, Higgins LLC. Although Björ6n wrote all of the lyrics for the Halcyon Brothers, Ed Hoffman helped pen "Get Loved" for this album.

Also in Late 2008, a decision was made to expand the band to a five piece in order to finally play live shows. In addition to Bosky, Björ6n and Dorje, the rhythm section of Zack Scott on drums and Ted Eastman (formerly of A Life Without) on bass was folded into the mix.

Bosky also records/performs with the Vanishing Spies, Revolver & The Secret Agents, Rubber Soul, A Hard Day's Night & The Minimal Pairs, Bosky & The Rumbluffers, and Revo in addition to his solo work. Björ6n has a side project under the moniker of Bjor6n. Zack Scott records solo material as well. All are involved in the art collective This Isn't Just a Cult.

The Halcyon Brothers Minneapolis, Minnesota

Halcyon is a poetic name for a Kingfisher. It is said that the floating nest of the Halcyon brings calm to the cruel sea. The Halcyon Brothers decorate the weight of the world in a charming and medicated disguise. The sound embraces with a clinched smile, and then stumbles and occasionally falls only to somehow prop itself back up for another round. ... more
